Privacy Policy

Instant9 (the “App”) is an Android launcher published by Satpura Labs (“we”, “us”). It lets you find and open apps, call contacts, and start WhatsApp conversations by tapping a T9 keypad. This policy explains what the App accesses on your device and how that information is handled.

The short version

Instant9 runs entirely on your device. It does not require an account, has no internet permission, contains no ads, and includes no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Your apps, contacts, search queries, and preferences never leave your phone.

Permissions we use, and why

  • Read ContactsSo you can search for people by tapping their name on the T9 keypad. Contact names, phone numbers, and photo thumbnails are read from your device to display matches and are not uploaded anywhere. Contacts search is opt-in — the App only requests this permission when you turn on Contacts in Settings.
  • Write ContactsRequested only when you choose “Delete Contact” from a contact's menu. The App uses this permission solely to remove the contact you selected from your device; it is not used for any other purpose, and if you decline, the rest of the App continues to work.
  • Phone (place calls)So tapping a contact can start a call directly. If this permission isn't granted, the App simply opens your system dialer with the number pre-filled instead.
  • Installed apps visibilityDeclared in the App's manifest so that Instant9 can list and launch your installed apps and hand off WhatsApp actions. The list of installed apps is read on-device to match your keypad input; it is refreshed automatically when apps are added or removed.
  • Request package deletionUsed only when you choose “Uninstall” from an app's menu. This lets Instant9 launch the standard Android uninstall confirmation screen for the app you selected. Instant9 does not uninstall anything on its own.

Instant9 does not request the Internet permission. Because the App has no network access, none of the information listed above can be transmitted off your device by Instant9.

Information stored on your device

To keep search fast and remember your preferences, the App stores small amounts of data locally in Android's private SharedPreferences, which is sandboxed to Instant9:
  • A cached list of your installed apps (names and package identifiers) so results appear instantly on every keystroke.
  • A cached list of your contacts (names, phone numbers, and photo URIs) — only when you have enabled Contacts search.
  • Your four most-recently used apps or contacts, shown when you open the App without typing.
  • Your settings — theme mode (System / Light / Dark), right-handed mode, and whether Contacts search is enabled.

This data never leaves your device. It is removed when you clear the App's data from Android Settings, or when you uninstall the App.

Haptic feedback

The App plays short vibrations on keypresses, long-presses, and menu selections using Android's built-in haptic feedback APIs. This involves no personal data and no separate permission.

Other apps we hand off to

When you start a call, send a WhatsApp message or call, open a chosen app, view App Info, or uninstall an app, Instant9 hands control to that other app or system screen and closes itself. Anything you do inside that other app or screen is governed by its own terms and privacy policy — for example, WhatsApp, your phone dialer, and the Android system uninstall flow.

Data sharing, sale, and advertising

We do not sell your personal information and, because the App has no network access, it is not technically capable of sharing your information with third parties for advertising, analytics, or any other purpose. Instant9 contains no ads and no third-party SDKs that collect data.

Security

Because your data stays on your device inside Instant9's private storage, its security is tied to your device's own protections — your lock screen, device encryption, and Android's permission and sandboxing controls.

Children's privacy

Instant9 is a general-purpose launcher utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here, and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change accordingly.
